The Macallan Double Cask 18 Years Old marries two of the distillery's signature cask traditions in a single expression. The spirit is matured in a combination of American oak ex-sherry-seasoned casks and European oak ex-sherry-seasoned casks, a pairing that softens the deep, dried-fruit richness typical of Macallan's sherry-cask style with the vanilla, honey and citrus sweetness the American oak lends. Eighteen years of maturation gives the whisky considerable depth and polish: on the nose, dried orange peel, toffee, ginger and antique wood lead into a palate of dark chocolate, wood smoke, spice and raisins, finishing long, warming and gently oaky.
