Ron Zacapa Centenario 23 Year Old, presented here in its distinctive Black Label dress, is one of Guatemala's most celebrated premium rums, produced at a unique high-altitude ageing facility known as 'La Casa del Ron' situated over 2,300 metres above sea level in the Guatemalan highlands. This cooler, more stable environment slows the ageing process and reduces the angel's share compared to lowland or tropical maturation, allowing the rum to develop complexity gradually over decades. Zacapa uses a solera system, blending rums aged up to 23 years across a combination of American oak ex-bourbon barrels, sherry casks and casks that previously held Pedro Ximénez sherry, giving the final blend notable sweetness and depth. The result is a rich, mahogany-coloured rum with a nose of dried fruit, honey, toffee and oak spice; the palate offers notes of vanilla, dark chocolate, coffee and stone fruit, finishing long and warmly spiced.
