Dictador Rum XO Perpetual is a flagship expression from Dictador, a Colombian rum house tracing its origins to 1913 in Cartagena de Indias. XO Perpetual is aged using Dictador's distinctive solera system, in which rums of varying ages are continuously blended across a series of interconnected American oak ex-bourbon barrels and ex-sherry casks sourced from Jerez, Spain, so that no cask in the solera is ever fully emptied and the final blend carries the influence of exceptionally old reserve rum alongside younger stock. This method, more commonly associated with sherry and cognac production, produces a rum of notable depth and consistency, with a nose of vanilla, honey and white chocolate, and a palate of fudge, dried fruit, roasted coffee and warm oak spice, finishing long, smooth and gently sweet.
