Benromach 10 Years Old
Speyside, Scotland
Đ 153.00
Benromach 10 Years Old is matured exclusively in first-fill sherry and bourbon barrels, a combination that gives Speyside's smallest working distillery its signature style: delicate, fruit-driven, and gently smoky rather than the heavily sherried or intensely peated extremes found elsewhere in Scotland. Benromach, based in Forres, was revived by independent bottler Gordon & MacPhail in the late 1990s after years of closure, and this 10 Year Old is the clearest expression of the house style the distillery has rebuilt its reputation around. Expect a nose of delicate forest fruits — raspberry and blackberry — alongside creamy malt and a whisper of gentle smoke, with rich sherry notes developing as the whisky opens in the glass. The palate follows that same balance, combining soft fruit sweetness with creamy, malty texture and a light smokiness that adds complexity without dominating. Sherry cask influence brings dried fruit and a touch of spice, while the finish is smooth and lasting, closing on gentle smoke and sherry richness. This is a whisky that manages real complexity at an accessible age, making it an excellent entry point into Benromach's range and into traditionally styled, lightly peated Speyside whisky more broadly. Best enjoyed neat or with a small splash of water to open the aromatics fully.
